TitleA TWO-STEP ASYMPTOTIC MODELLING OF THE HEAT CONDUCTION IN A FUNCTIONALLY GRADED STRATIFIED LAYER
AutorOlga Szlachetka, Monika Wągrowska, Czesław Woźniak
Pages3–9
Keywordsmaterial FGM, transversal gradation of effective properties, heat conduction, homogenization
AbstractShow abstract
The aim of the contribution is to obtain heat conduction equations with slowly varying coefficients for a functionally graded stratified layer. The proposed procedure is realized in two steps. In the first step we deal with two independent isotropic materials, each of them reinforced by a periodically spaced very thin layers. Using the homogenization procedure we obtain two new orthotropic materials. In the second step these new materials are combined together in order to derive the functionally graded composite model constituting the basis for analysis.

TitleCABLE-STAYED BRIDGE UNDER DYNAMIC WIND ACTION
AutorAnna Celmer-Al-Sabouni, Wojciech Gilewski
Pages11–22
Keywordsdynamics of structures, cable-stayed bridge, wind load
AbstractShow abstract
The subject under consideration is dynamic action of wind for cable-stayed bridge. Finite element model is used for the Świętokrzyski Bridge in Warsaw as an example. Free vibration modes are calculated as a base for the method of modal superposition. The wind load is calculated following the Eurocode 1 with the harmonic function for time variable. Semi-resonance as well as flutter phenomena is observed.

TitlePOLISH CLASSIFICATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH PN-B-02480:1986 CONSISTENT WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF PN-EN ISO 14688:2006
AutorAnna Gołębiewska
Pages23–36
KeywordsPolish soil classification consistent with ISO
AbstractShow abstract
The Paper presents a new proposal of adjusting Polish soil classification in accordance with Polish Standard PN-B-02480:1986 to the nomenclature of Polish Standard PN-EN ISO 14688-1:2006. It has been demonstrated that Polish soil classification based on grain-size distribution and related to it visual and manual soil examination meets the requirements on rules and methods of soil identification in consistency with PN-EN ISO 14688:2006. It has been recommended that Polish soil classification should be used (after small changes, presented below) in PN-EN ISO 14688:2006 as a local Polish Enclosure to the said Standard. The proposal should be met with a favorable reception by civil engineers as it allows for implementation of PN-EN ISO 14688-1:2006, and in the same time it follows the concept that the engineers have been used to for many years.

TitleSKIN FRICTION BETWEEN THE SOIL AND LATERAL SURFACE OF DEEP FOUNDATION WITH IN THE RELAXED SUBSOIL
AutorPiotr Król, Zdzisław Skutnik
Pages37–45
Keywordsskin friction, deep foundation, relaxed subsoil, geotechnical investigations and geotechnical parameters.
AbstractShow abstract
In the paper a discussion on the impact of relaxing the ground to assess the bearing capacity of the subsoil. On the basis of dilatometer Marchetti (DMT) soundings, carried out before and after the excavation it has been shown that the excavation is not always caused the relaxation of the subsoil, and above all, does not reduce the friction of the soil on the side surfaces of deep foundations. The friction is usually taken from the soil type and the state of stress, which, as shown for example in the design of the foundation pile can lead to the undercutting and thereby redesign foundation.

TitleTHE USE OF SURFACE SEISMIC METHODS FOR EXAMINATION OF TECHNICAL CONDITIONS OF THE LEVEES
AutorMarek Bajda, Katarzyna Markowska-Lech, Nikodem Sarosiak
Pages47–54
KeywordsMASW, surface seismic, levees
AbstractShow abstract
In this study a geophysical investigation using multi-channel surface wave measurements (MASW) was undertaken to characterize the condition of earth levees. The field measurements were conducted on Vistula levees near Kraski Górne. The MASW method allowed mapping shear wave velocity structures along levees and so relatively high and low velocity zones in the levee body could be easly read. The results were compared to borehole drillings and DPL test. As a conclusion it can be said that the MASW method can be used to identify failure risks areas with a relatively high resolution.

TitleTHE ELEVATIONS OF CONTEMPORARY ORTHODOX CHURCHES IN POLAND
AutorKrzysztof Woźniak
Pages55–62
Keywordsdomes, ecclesiastical architecture, churches, orthodox churches, temples
AbstractShow abstract
In the article are presented the ways of buildings elevations of contemporary orthodox churches in Poland, which are not similar to traditional. Author analysed 6 buildings. In these various forms there are features contemporary and standing. Often there isn’t traditional mellow character of these churches. Sometimes there are the campaniles beside the churches.
