AutorWanda Harkot, Halina Lipińska, Teresa Wyłupek
Pages5–16
KeywordsLublin Voivodship, land use, directions of changes, natural conditions
AbstractShow abstract
The study deals with an analysis of a structure of land management in Lublin region in 1996–2002 taking into account specific natural conditions of Biała Padlaska, Chełm, Lublin, and Zamość subregions. Statistical data from WUS and GUS (regional and main statistical offices) helped to evaluate changes in land management. The structure of land management in Lublin region is greatly determined by natural conditions. Communes of former Biała Podlaska and Chełm voivodeships are characterized by the lowest indices of agricultural production space quality (62.7–67.6), while former Zamość voivodeship – by the highest (85.3). Significant dispersion of farms has been characteristic for agriculture in Lublin region. The share of agricultural lands area decreased as opposite to forests and other grounds (out of the agricultural) in land management structure within studied period. Instead, large wasteland areas appeared in a landscape. Structure of main crop groups also changed: cereal-grown areas increased, whereas areas under potato and root crops cultivations almost two-fold decreased.

Pages17–27
Keywordsflora, village garden, Roztocze, Lublin region
AbstractShow abstract

The examinations were carried out during the years 2003 and 2004. The setting and choice of plants in the infield gardens at the area of the Museum were reconstructed on the basis of accounts of the latest owners of the houses – they refer to the period of about one hundred years ago. The species are still being planted in the village gardens of Roztocze are, among others: Rosa rugosa Thunb., Philadelphus coronarius L., Syringa vulgaris L., Artemisia arboretum L, Artemisia absinthium L., Vinca minor L. The plants which can’t be found in modern gardens are some species of fruit trees and bushes and also Sambucus nigra L., Ruta graveolens L., Reseda odorata L., Hespris matronalis L., Althaea rosea var. nigra, Valeriana officinalis L. or Carum carvi L. The largest group of plants forgotten by modern housewives are herbs – they were once widely used in medicine and folk rites.

TitleTREE STAND OF A MANOR PARK IN KŁODZIN AS COMPARED WITH THE STATE IN 1979
AutorZdzisław Kawecki, Jadwiga Waźbińska, Wiktor Knercer, Katarzyna Gródka
Pages29–37
Keywordsmanor park, tree stands, alleys.
AbstractShow abstract
The park in Kłodzin was established in the 19th century. It is located on a hill with a panoramic view of the Pasłęka River valley. The park, rectangular in shape, occupies a total area of 0.73 ha. A manor house built in its south-western part was burnt during the Second World War. The ruins were pulled down in 1956, and only the foundations have survived until today. After the parceling out of land that took place in the years 1945 – 1946, the estate was taken over by the State and was used by the State-owned Farm Morąg. In 1990 it passed into private hands. Well-preserved fragments of old-growth forest, composed of Acer platanoides L., Tilia cordata Mill., Quercus robur L. ‘Fastigiata’ in the columned and conical form, and Picea abies Link, can be found along the southern and eastern boundary of the park. There are no trees in the central part of the park, except for a single, widely-spreading English oak. There is an alley of lime-trees at the eastern boundary of the park, and a tree-line composed of limes and maples at the southern boundary.

TitleNEIGHBOUR-TO-NEIGHBOUR LEASE AND LEASE FROM THE AGRICULTURAL PROPERTY AGENCY AS ONE OF THE FORMS OF AGRICULTURAL LAND USE
AutorKatarzyna Kocur-Bera
Pages39–48
Keywords lease of arable lands, Agricultural Property Agency, neighbour-to-neighbour lease, reasons for terminating agreements
AbstractShow abstract
The leasing of arable lands is one of the forms of land allocation by the Agricultural Property Agency. This is also a method of increasing land acreage without the need to make any purchase. After Poland joined the structures of the European Union, the increase in the number of neighbour-to-neighbour agreements registered in the land and building registration system (concluded between natural persons, most frequently neighbours) was observed. Certainly, the reason is the possibility of obtaining area payments by the leaseholders. The land leased by the Agricultural Property Agency very often returns from lease. The reasons for this are various, from transferring this land to municipalities or to the State Forest Administration, through expiry of agreements due to the lapse of time, breaches of contractual terms by the leaseholders (failure to pay leasehold rent or subleasing the land to another person without the consent of the APA). The article is an attempt to analyse the status of leasing in the municipality of Biskupiec.

TitleTHE ROLE OF AN AGRICULTURAL FARM IN SPACE MANAGEMENT OF RURAL AREAS
AutorZbigniew Kuriata
Pages51–62
Keywordsrural landscape, expanse, rural settlement, farm
AbstractShow abstract
Traditionally, a rural area has been associated with farming agricultural production, which in the course of centuries resulted in various forms of space management. An important element in the urbanized landscape is a farm surrounded by green area and in an open landscape – cultivable fields and their relations with a rural settlement. Advancing urbanization of a village changes its landscape and often loses its individual character due to unified architecture and, first of all, it limits the possibilities of appropriate farm functioning. Most frequently, a new building-up covers already existing urbanized areas including individual farmers’ allotments. This situation leads also to considerable difficulties in farm functioning, as well as to inconveniences regarding communication between the farms and their owned areas. Therefore, there is a need to aim at creating the feeling of identity with native tradition and its values, which is strictly connected with farmers’ awareness of belonging to local communities and identification with the surrounding space through forming rural cultural environment and, especially, its space value, providing a proper place for farms.

TitleEFFICIENCY OF RENEWABLE ENERGY GENERATION UTILIZATION IN THE RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS MANAGEMENT – PART II
AutorMałgorzata Renigier-Biłozor, Karol Gobczyński
Pages73–85
Keywordsresidential building, renewable energy sources, micro generation
AbstractShow abstract
International interest in the sustainable development has been increasing from few decades and production of the electricity from renewable energy sources is included as very important part of it. European Union is one of the most or the most powerful player in reducing energy losses, increasing energy efficiency and implementation of technology based on renewable energy sources. Residential buildings are important, integral part of the environment and play a significant role in “urban metabolism”, where energy and water are consumed and waste are produced. The article divided on two sections. Main focus on the first part on an analysis of the structure of energy consumption in polish households, potential of renewable energy sources and existing technologies that can be used in based on green primary energy sources. In the secent part was shown practical example analysis of an energy generation from the renewable energy sources in residential buildings, which has direct influence on their management efficiency.

TitleCHOSEN RULES OF PUBLIC REAL ESTATE RESOURCES MANAGEMENT IN POST-SOCIALIST COUNTRIES
AutorRyszard Źróbek, Alina Źróbek-Różańska
Pages111–118
Keywords land management, public land resources, effectiveness, public land policy, costs and benefits analysis
AbstractShow abstract
Managing real estates from public stock meets unique conditions and limitations, as they should be used only for public purposes, such as satisfying current and future social needs. Therefore, rational management is necessary, but in this special case the term ‘effectiveness’ cannot be applied only to the economic side of management. Governments are obliged to make much more sophisticated decisions, which require not only quantitative assessments, but also qualitative evaluation, as they influence many aspects of society’s living conditions. Measuring the effectiveness in public sector should be conducted with the use of adjusted methods and analytical instruments, which are presented and described in the article.
