Pages7–26
KeywordsKeywords: management of land use, agricultural land, land management, Sontay
AbstractShow abstract
The sustainable land use management relates to the current and future areas of economics, society, culture and environment, limits land and water degradation and reduces production costs. The study aims to find out some limiting factors in the management of agricultural land use in Sontay Town. The impact of the factors on the management of agricultural land use was analyzed by using Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient in SPSS 17.0 with significant level 0.05 through the investigation of 160 households from 4 communes. The results of the research show that the local people realize that there has been a remarkable change in the land use management over the period and the main factors which influence the management of agricultural land use are land policies, policies supporting capital, techniques; characteristics of soil, scale of the area of farm land, and the roles of media and information.

AutorMariusz Ciesielski, Krzysztof Będkowski
Pages27–41
Keywordsspatial planning, demography, aerial images, geomatics
AbstractShow abstract
Recognizing trends and dynamic of changes of use and land cover and the current demographic situation are elementary conditions for rational planning directions for its future development. These changes, largely determined by demographic factors (migration, population etc.) are also the result of spatial planning policy executed by settlements in planning documents or administrative decisions. It is appropriate to take into account not only the direction of changes that have taken place in the area in recent years but also the demographic trends, when drawing up planning documents: obligatory Study of Conditions and Directions of Spatial Management (SUiKZP) and facultative Local Spatial Management Plan (MPZP). A valuable source of information for studies on land cover and land use, and then changes occurring in them are aerial and satellite images, which were used in this paper. The aim of the study was to analyze and interpret changes in land cover of three rural communities in the context of socio economic transformations and assess how local planning policies , recorded in the MPZP and SUiKZP , reflect the current and future spatial demographic situation.

Facing with global economic issues and changes, the risk and challenges of a growing, insecure and complex environment, a need arose for a new role and function of universities. The emphasis has been put on universities as socially responsible subjects in social and economic development of every country. Universities are becoming more and more important participants in the creation of sustainable social development, because connecting the learning process with economic activities can affect the creation of sustainable dynamics of economic and social development of the community in which the university works [Etzkowitz, 2002]. By carrying out project A.C.T.I.V.E. Activity and Creativity Through Ideas and Ventures = Employment, J. J. Strossmayer University in Osijek Faculty of Economics showed that they are capable of recognizing current issue within the community and to resolve these issues by undertaking taking proper measures. This way the University plays a significant role of brokering positive changes in our society. The aim of this paper is to put emphasis onto social responsibility of the University in carrying out project A.C.T.I.V.E., the goal of which is to establish and improve prerequisites for employability and self-employability of young people in Osijek-Baranja County, especially college and high school graduates as well as inexperienced unemployed people.

TitleWIELOWYMIAROWOŚĆ PROCESU REWITALIZACJI W UJĘCIU METODYCZNYM
AutorMałgorzata Prusik, Ryszard Źróbek
Pages69–78
KeywordsSłowa klucze: tereny zdegradowane, rewitalizacja, wielowymiarowość
AbstractShow abstract
Strzeszczenie.

TitleANALYSIS OF THE AREA DEVELOPMENT PLANS APPLICABLE WITHIN OLSZTYN SUBURBAN AREA
AutorSławomir Sobotka
Pages79–107
KeywordsArea Development Plans, coverage index for Area Development Plans, suburban area
AbstractShow abstract
This paper presents the results of research for PhD thesis entitled: "Spatial development within Olsztyn suburban area against The background of changes to agricultural landscape". Spatial range of the research covered all (i.e. 200) villages situated in 6 communes within Olsztyn suburban area. In order to address spatial changes, the applicable Area Development Plans were analysed. In the Official Gazettes of Warmińsko-Mazurskie Province for the years 1996-2010, 196 Area Development Plans for a part or the whole of 6 villages (43% of the total number thereof) were published. Most Plans primarily concern the development of single family residential buildings (MN) and residential and commercial service buildings (MU). Approximate area covered with Area Development Plans is 594. ha. This amounts to 6.3 % of Olsztyn suburban area (data as at the end of 2010). The value of the data concerned is below the average value for Poland. The situation is similar for the average area covered with Area Development Plans. This is due, to a large extent, to the cancellation (pursuant to the Act on spatial planning and development of 2003) of Area Development Plans as published before 1995. This has resulted in spatial chaos in the communes under research, which was additionally intensified by the introduction of Decision on building and land development conditions. Approx. 2/3 of the area covered with the Plans applicable for the communes result from the studies as prepared pursuant the Act on spatial planning and development of 2003.
