Abstract
The experiment was carried out in 2001–2003 at Mydlniki near Cracow. The aim of the study was to determinate an immediate crushing strength of grain by measuring the force within microdamage range. The grains of Rastik, hulled barley and Bies, husky barley (from the experimental field with different seed rates) were analyzed. Damaged grains were germinated then initial and final germination capacity were calculated. Biological value of damaged and undamaged grains was compared. Hulled barley was characterized by lower grain resistance to damages in comparison with husky barley regardless the different seed rates. Lower values of initial and final germination capacity as the result mechanical grain damages were stated.
