Abstract
A Pezicula cinnamomea strain, an endophytic fungus, was used to investigate its ability to reduce seven prochiral aromatic ketones: acetophenones and naphthylketones. In all cases enantiospecificity of the process was recorded, and the enantiospecifi-city, calculated as the enantiomeric excess, as well as resulting secondary alcohol yield, depended primary on the structure of a given substrate, and to the lesser extent on the reaction time.
