Abstract
The aim of the work was to study the possibility of glycerol utilization for citric acid biosynthesis with Aspergillus niger W78B strain and determining the optimum macroelements concentration in synthetic medium for this process. The experiments were carried out in shaken flasks on medium containing glycerin as a substrate diluted with tap water and supplemented with macroelements. The maximum product formation occured in medium variant containing 2,48 g dm-3 NH4NO3, 0,3 g dm-3 KH2PO4 and 0,3 g dm-3 MgSO4·7H2O. In these conditions 59,1 g dm-3 of citric acid was obtained with yield factor (YP/S) equiled 0,39 g g-1 and productivity QP 0,99 g dm-3 h-1. Bioprocesses were characte-rized by high chemical selectivity as only accompanying acid was oxalic one, present in trace amount in fermentation broth.
