Abstract
The objective of the presented investigations made in Department of Forest Engineering of The Agricultural University of Poznań was to develop a mixture of bark, cement and sand which could be applied to constructing a biological-technical reinforcement of the slopes to stop the erosion process. It was assumed that prefabricated units having the contour of a regular hexagon with a hollow filled with humus and overgrown with grass plants are proper for reinforcing scarps with a meaningful gradient (industrial refuse storing sites, embankments and cuts, dunes etc.). The elements which are cheque - arranged make it possible to fill the empty spaces with humus and sow grass and no danger of washing out exists then. Reinforcement of this type provides stability of the slope till the moment the plant cover playing an important role is developed. It was assumed initially that the plant cover rooting in a segment would simultaneously grow through its walls and especially its bottom containing fertilizing granules. As a result, the process of deep slope rooting and slow decomposition of bark - cement - sand elements follows.
