Abstract
With every year cryopreservation is finding wider application in the storage of plant genetic resources. The number of usable, medicinal, ornamental and threatened plant species stored in liquid nitrogen is constantly increasing. The available cryopreservation techniques are becoming more and more efficient. Despite much attention is being paid to the issue of protocols optimization, the knowledge about biological material stability is still not full. The concept of cryopreservation assumes, that the stored tissues maintain their features. However, the available literature proves, that changes (mostly on DNA sequence or methylation level) can also occur. The size and durability of those alternations depends on both: the cryopreservation technique applied and the genotype. The aim of this minireview is to discuss the selected aspects of cryopreserved plants stability.
