Title
VARIATION OF THE CELL DIMENSIONS IN SINGLE ANNUAL RINGS OF BLACK ALDER WOOD (Alnus glutinosa Gaertn.)
Autor
Ewa Fabisiak
Keywords
black alder, fibers, vessel members, single growth ring, juvenile and mature wood
Abstract
The length of the wood fibers and vessel elements was found to increase with the cambial age of the rings increasing from 3 to 12. This reflects a weak increase in fiber and vessel member lengths from the very beginning of annual increment up to ?-? of its width and then toward decrease in the length value until the growth ring ends. The vessel members diameter does not depend on the vessel location in the annual increment.
